Its been a crazy month! Last minute mixed media had to make for my husband to give one of his boss that just came back to work this week.  I'm actually surprised that I was able to make the time to post this on here!. I give credit to everyone that keeps up with their blog its a lot of work!  Ok so here we go....

Supplies

5x7 canvas board
Dylusions ink spray in vibrant turquoise, lemon zest, and crushed grape
Liquitex basics acrylic gesso
Decoart dimensional effects paste
Stickles diamond
decoart dazzling metallic in festive red, splendid gold, and shimmering silver
Stampendous frantage embossing powder in shabby white
Mini Cherry Blossoms stencil by thecraftersworkshop.com
paper flowers
Tiddly inks Druscilla

copics used

Skin - E04, E11, E00, E000, R20, BV000

Hair - C9, C7, C5, C5, C3

Dress - BV08, BV04, BV02, V09

Wings - BG000, B01, wink of stella Green and clear

I sprayed my canvas with the dylusions spray which I'm really loving I think its the best so far out of what I've tried which mind you isn't much but I just love the way it lays down and how it pools always giving me a nice effect. I definitely wanna get more colors in this. Once it appeared to be dry I cut out a stencil with my silhouette cameo I believe the cut was called birch trees, sold in the silhouette store. I went over the stencil with a medium thickness gesso to give it some dimension. Once that was dry I sprinkled frantage on it and used a candle lighter to melt it into place. I then used the cherry blossom stencil with dimensional paste, once dry I painted over the flowers and birds with my metallic paint.  As far as the color on the gesso and on the dimensional paste leaves it just kind of absorbed the color that was laid down on the canvas in the beginning. I used foam pop dots to place druscilla down and E6000 to glue down the flowers.

Thanks for stopping bye!

Christmas is almost here!

So its been awhile since I've posted anything. I honestly don't know how people keep up with their blogs.....maybe I'm just lazy?lol Anyway with Christmas just a week away and no recent post from me I thought I'd post a few things I had been working on this holiday season.  Unfortunately I didn't write down the copic combos I used so this isn't going to be a real detailed post!

This hat is from the silhouette store designed by Needles 'n' knowledge it's their mourners hat. I turned into my version of the mad hatters hat for a gift to give a friend for Christmas. The playing cards are also from the silhouette store I sized them to my needs and distressed them. The door knob and key hole are by tim holtz and the other metal embellishments on the hat are from wild orchids.  The display case I have it in is actually meant for a basketball it's the only thing I could find for the size I needed and price I wanted to pay, it worked out perfectly. I used a stencil I cut out on my silhouette from Bird's cards.  On the top I used visible image "grunge flourish" and stamped it with stazon.

Next is a birthday card my mom requested made for the man that takes the pictures of the winning dogs in the dog shows here. I used my copic airbrush to accomplish the clouds. The cake is from Miss Kate Cuttables. The dog attaced to the balloons is from tiddly inks and the other dogs are from my favorite things "you make my tail wag".

Next I made our mailman a Christmas card. The digi stamp is from Make it Crafty "elf delivery system" It was just to much of a perfect title for a card for the mailman I couldn't help but use the name of the stamp on the card. I embossed the title with stampedious embossing powders and did the snow with a snow marker.  Again colored in copics.

Finally I made this draw boxes to hold some mixed media canvases that my husband with give to his supervisors for Christmas. I topped the boxes off with Bow cards from Sandra's Scrapshop. I used digi stamps from Make it Crafty and Tiddly inks.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed my crafts as much as I enjoyed making them!

Mixed media "Ice Wall"

So today I thought I'd blog about this mixed media piece I just finished.  It was inspired by Kit and Clowder's august create and learn class.  I recently signed up for the mixed media class there and I am hooked! So here's a few details on how I put this together.

Materials used:

5 x 7 canvas
homemade texture paste
Mesh ribbon silver
sequins "ocean breeze" and double click skettles "peacock glitter & stream" from sosuzystamps.com
paper flowers
chipboard
copic airbrush
glitter glue "diamond"
Inka gold " Platin Platinum & Cobalt Blue"

Image:

Polkadoodles - Octavia Frosted Winter: Arctic wandering star

Copics used:

Ice wall - B99, B16, B21, BG01
Snow - N4, N0 (for the shadow)

Image:

Cape - RV34, RV52, R83, RV69, C3, C0
Hat - RV52, C3, C0, YG95, RV95
Clothes - E18, E37, E99, E59, E47, E71, E74, E79, W9
Skin - E000, E00, E11, E04, R20, (eye shadow C3), (lips E04, R02, R20)
Eyes - C3, B12, B16
Hair - E18, E15, E13, E49

Here I have my 5x7 canvas I primed with gesso and layed down my texture paste I used the image to gage where my snow should end. After waiting a day to let it dry good I added more textured paste to get more dimension and cover my canvas better.

After letting it dry for another day I took my copic airbrush and used the darkest color in all the ridges working my way out to the lightest color. I used silver inka gold over the peaks to give it a nice shine, I tried adding glossy glue to give it a slippery look but unfortunately I think mines has gone bad it had a yellow tint to it so once it was dry I ran more silver inka gold over it. I then glued my sequins and double-click skittles in place. After airbrushing the wall I used my image to gage where her shadow should be and airbrushed it into the snow. I then layed down my glitter glue to make it shimmer.
It was a last minute decision to add the flowers and ribbon to it, then had to add the chipboard because it was just to bare in that spot.

Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by!

Black and White Card

Ok so today I've finished making my black and white card for the make it crafty CAS challenge.  I wanted to make something fun so put in a slider into the card. I don't usually make Halloween cards so even though it looks like one its not.  Bear with my instructions I made a couple of mistakes and had to fix them along they way so that's why you may not see pieces in the pictures.

First my card base is 5x7 so my top layer is 6.75" x 4.75" and the circle is 2.7" in diameter I used my silhouette to cut this out. You will also need:

4 strips of cardstock 4 1/2"x 1/2"
3 strips of cardstock 3 1/2" x 1/2"
1 strip of cardstock 4" x 1-1/2"
1" circle

Background and grave yard are from the silhouette design store and so is the pattern on the moon

Swirl background
Halloween creepy graveyard
webbed paper
After gluing the background onto my white cardstock I cut off the excess.  Then I started to cut pieces of cardstock to make the slider element.
This piece of cardstock measures 4"x1 1/2" and at the ends I cut out tabs at 1/4" x 1" the is where your ribbon will lay and you want the notches on each side to keep it in place.

Take 3 strips of cardstock measuring 3 1/2" x 1/2" and glue one to each end being careful not to overlap your tabs and one in the middle. these will be used to glue our piece down to the base.
my ribbon measured 7/8" wide and I cut it at 8". I used terrifically tacky tape its double sided to stick the ribbon together. Make sure your ribbon isn't pulled too tight on the cardstock so that it will still move with ease. One on both ends one on top on one side and one on the bottom on the other side.
Get 2 strips of cardstock 4 1/2" x 1/2" and glue them together for you push tab. this should run along the length of your ribbon under the tabs and only glued down( I used tacky tape for this) to one end about 1" worth. For a visual scroll down to the next steps. this was a step I thought I could skip so didn't take a picture of it till I had to add it. Now fold your side tabs down under the bottom and glue them together making sure not to get them stuck to the ribbon.
This is what the top of your slider piece should look like when done.
Position your slider on your cardstock matching where you want your image to fall when its pulled. I used a white pencil to mark my position before I glued it down. Glue the bottom of your slider tabs that are over the ribbon to the base again making sure not to get any glue on the ribbon.  Also glue down the tabs at the ends.
Now glue 2 strips of cardstock 4 1/2"x 1/2" together this will be your pull tab. I cut out a 1" circle to glue my image to because I need the extra support.  You can avoid that step depending on your image or how you cut it out.
Next I used the tacky tape to stick my pull tab to the ribbon about 1" from the end with the circle.
I positioned my image to be able to be hidden but pop out when the tabs are pulled. At the end of my pull tab I added a 3/16 eyelet and some black ribbon. for the push tab once it was in position I trimmed off the end so it wouldn't stick out of the card so much.

The image is from Make It Crafty mini gothilia.
copics used:

Hair -C9, C7, C5, C3
         T0,T3, T5, T7
Skin - W0, W3, W5
Dress - N9, C7, N4, N2
Bandage - T3, T0
The font I used for the boo was batfont and I covered it with black glitter.

Hope you liked my card and my instructions weren't to confusing!

For the dragonfly I colored him in with a pearlessence to give him a shimmer and the bird is only has C0 where the cast shadows should be.  For the clouds I used stampendous white embossing powder. I also used an eyelet to set the wheel in place.
For the inside I put down a piece of light blue vellum and used a crackle stencil with my copic airbrush and B01 to give it an under water look.

On the inside of the cardstock I stamped it with Tiddly Inks Floating By. The fish are colored with copics YR00, YR02, YR07, YR04 and the crab is R24, R27, R29, C5. I used Stampendous white and gold embossing powder to give it a little bit of a sandy look.

Copic Marker Storage

So since this is my very first post and I still need to figure out how to do the watermark I thought I'd start with the copic marker storage I made.  I made this a few months ago but didn't write my dimensions. But really size is what suits your needs and space.

Materials : Foam board about 3 sheets
                  Gummied packaging tape
                  Water
                  Sponge brush
                  Applique pins
                  X-acto knife
                  Metal ruler
                  Cutting mat
                  Chalkboard spray paint
                  Gem beads(for knobs on drawers)
                  Chipboard
                  Sunrise sunset patterned papers
After measure and cutting my pieces out I pinned them together and used the gummied packaging tape to secure them together. One mistake I made from being impatient was that I didn't mark my back board with the measurements which threw everything off because while I thought I was holding my pieces straight up I was in fact crooked.

After everything was together I sprayed it with black chalkboard paint to give it a nice finish. From there I proceeded to make my drawers but because my measurements were off I had to do them each individually and making them crooked so overall it would look straight.
Overall happy with what I made and exactly what I needed =D
